Traveloka Established Strategic Partnership with JR-West to Provide Seamless Japan

JAKARTA, 11th July 2019 – Traveloka as the leading Travel & Lifestyle booking platform in Southeast Asia, strengthens its commitment to provide end-to-end transportation solutions by introducing its newest product, Japan Trains. The Japan Trains product is the embodiment of Traveloka’s “Right to Win” mission, especially since Traveloka is the only Travel and Lifestyle booking platform that provides JR passes in Indonesia to accommodate outbound travel. As a tangible manifestation in providing seamless and complete end-to-end transportation solutions, Traveloka has established a partnership with West Japan Railway Company (JR-West) today (July 11), and become the first Travel and Lifestyle booking platform in Southeast Asia to partner directly with JR West to distribute their train passes in Traveloka’s iOS and Android Apps.

According to Mastercard Future of Outbound Travel data in the Asia Pacific (2016 to 2021), outbound travel in Asia Pacific is expected to grow by an annual rate of 6 percent over the forecast period of 2016-2021. Indonesia is listed as one of the countries with the largest growth in overseas travel in Asia, which reached 8.6 percent growth per year and tourist numbers expected to exceed 10.6 million in 2021. Meanwhile, international outbound travel trips by Australian residents are estimated at 10 million in 2016 and are forecasted to grow by an average of 3.5 percent per year to reach 11.8 million trips by 2021.

The JR-West train network has a total length of up to 4,900 km, covering 18 prefectures (regions) including the Kansai area which is full of interesting attractions. JR-West is equipped with both conventional trains and high-speed trains, or better known as Shinkansen.

The strategic partnership between Traveloka and JR-West provides convenience for users, which includes:
